Harmonize is currently one of the youngest Bongo crooners who have prospered immensely in both the creative essence of bongo music and the business side of the art. Harmonize songs are rich both in musical quality and social impact. His growth can be attributed to the commitment of Diamond Platnumz, the founder of Wasafi Records to bring the best out of his proteges. He has also shown determination to grow, experimenting with collaboration with different artists from different parts of the world. Read down below to know about his top trending songs.

The reason why Harmonize songs receive so much love from bongo music lovers and those who listen to other genres of music is perhaps his story-telling acumen. In his songs, starting from Aiyola, a song that ‘launched’ him to Matatizo, a listener is attracted to the story that he finds himself a participant in a song he did not create! Were we talking about writing, I would have said that Harmonize has the descriptive strength of Robert Greene and story-telling expertise of Ernst Hemmingway.

Though not a pioneer of bongo music (we can credit Mr. Nice for that), Harmonize’s contribution to the popularity of bongo music in the world stage can never be overstated. He has a combination of skill, discipline, and tenacity in the right proportions— these are virtues that when a musician possesses he becomes unstoppable. Without a doubt, Harmonize’s star is shining bright, but guess what? It is just the beginning for him as he has the advantage of technology and age!

Harmonize’s breakthrough in music came in 2015 with his first hit song, “Aiyola” featuring his mentor and friend Diamond Platnumz. From then onwards, Harmonize has released many hit songs whose audience cut across all age groups.

The musical genius of Harmonize has been recognized far beyond his home country, Tanzania and East African region. In 2016, he bagged the prestigious African Musik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2016 in the Best Newcomer Africa award category. This award came quickly after his debut single, which he released in 2015. Most artists become great after releasing a number of unsuccessful singles; Harmonize is no exception—his star did not begin shining right after the first ignition.

Harmonize has had his fair share of hard life. Born in 1991 as Rajab Abdul Kahali, Harmonize has studied up to the high school level. After that, he traveled to Dar es Salaam to begin his career in music in 2011. Yes, he started his career in 2011 but was little known until his explosive Aiyola single in 2015. Some of the odd jobs he has done to keep the grind include selling items at Kariakoo market and selling tea. He used his profits to fund his music career. Years later, his investments have paid off.

In 2015, Harmonize met Diamond Platnumz, who became his mentor and friend. Their relationship has grown, and he acknowledges Diamond’s contribution to his success in music and life in general. He has worked with Diamond in a number of songs like Bado, Show Me, and Kwa Ngwaru-Harmonize last song’s video.

You should know Harmonize is among the top richest musicians in Tanzania. His music career has immensely contributed to his source of wealth. He makes music fulltime, but he also owns property within and beyond Tanzania with the help of Diamond. He is following Diamond’s footsteps in wealth creation since apart from music, Diamond too has several investments in Tanzania and South Africa.

All Harmonize songs have been recorded under WCB Wasafi Record, which is one of the best music labels in Tanzania. WCB Wasafi label is owned by his fellow musician and friend Diamond Platnumz. Many of the best-performing musicians in Tanzania have worked under WCB wasafi label. Joel Vicent Joseph, also known as Mr. Puaz, together with Richardo Momo are Harmonize’s managers.

1. Aiyola

This was one of Harmonize hit songs that have been on radio frequencies for many years now. Since its release, Aiyola has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube, and the numbers are still growing. Most people love the song because it talks about lost love and the troubles lovers go through just to put a smile on their loved one’s faces. However, every listener will attest to how some of these advances to make a lover smile end up being the very acts that infuriate them.

Listening to this song will remind you of the vulnerability of being in a relationship. The video of this song was superbly done— it features some of the best scenes in South Africa. Also, you will be amazed at how far men can go to keep a relationship that is bound to crumble.

The beats of the song are fast-paced and feature an African drum rhythm. The song is danceable, but you will be drown to the mournful lyrics of a lover losing the best part of him. The video is explicit and features Diamond in the shower having fun with a nubile woman.

In this song, Harmonize featured Rich Mavoko. The song has been a hit song since 2017, and fans cannot have enough of it. On Youtube, the song has over 8million views.

The song talks about a loved one. Unlike most love songs by other Bongo artistes, this song is not about crying after a lost love. This song is praise for a beauty who is loved. Throughout the song, the artistes mention the admirable features of the lady. The song title “Show Me” forms the bigger part of the song, and is a song for the loved to show how well she can dance.

It is also a song that puts haters to shame. It silences naysayers who hate seeing people in love. Reminding the girl that she is the best she can ever be and she is the best gift to the lover hence as people talk, she can dance!

5. Zilipendwa by WCB artists

You must have probably heard this song “ohh hizo ni zama za kale,…” if you live in the East Africa region. It’s a very popular song featuring all the WCB crew led by the CEO, Diamond Platnumz. The song is done in Swahili, and it’s about the past known events, and many can relate with. It was released in 2017 and has over 17 million views.

The most remarkable thing about the video of this song is the costume. Wasafi records blended old fashion with the topic of the song. A song that remembers the beautiful aspects of past life. The song further juxtaposes past indulgences and pleasures and today’s fun times. At the end of the song, you realize that everything has its time; some of the most valued practices in the past are shunned today. You, therefore, learn to attune to the vibes of the current needs as you appreciate past indulgences.

The song is well mastered and features a fast-paced rhythm. Diamond leads in the chorus as the rest of the Wasafi artiste chip in with thought-out and lyrical verses. The song is not only rich musically, but will also get you laughing as nostalgia wins you over.

6. Sisi Maria-Omo Akin Featuring Harmonize

It’s a song about who a perfect woman is. It’s a good song to listen to, enlightening on what makes a good woman based on the guy’s personality.

Harmonize appeared in the song’s remix which did not have a video. Though the song does not stray away from the original version, Harmonize contributed a lot to its vocal quality. The song is partly done in Swahili and makes it a suitable tune to chill you down on an evening with your friends as drinks do rounds.

7. DM Chick- Harmonize ft. Sarkodie

The song was released after Kwa ngwaru and features Sarkodie, a Ghanian national, and one of the best musicians in Africa. It’s a love song, and from the video, you can really tell.

The song narrates a story of engagements with a girl in the DM (Direct Message). Listening to the song you cannot stop asking yourself how many relationships do blossom out of the random chats in the DM. The song’s video is beautifully done; right from the onset, your expectations from the song escalates. Harmonize begins the song in his seductive voice, singing of the beauty of the girl in his DM. Sarkodie crowns the track with his flawless rap skills. It is a song that will keep everyone on his feet in a club. The chorus is partly done in Luganda language.

8. Do like I do- DJ Neptune ft. Skales and Harmonize

This song is done by Dj Neptune, DJ from Nigeria Featuring Skales and Harmonize. This is among the Harmonize new songs released in May 2018, and the song is doing very well.

The song was done only in audio as it is a remix from an original version. Like most of the international hits where Harmonize has featured in, he brings the Swahili language and syncs it well with other languages in the song— maintaining the flow but increasing the flavour with nice vocals and laid-back rhyming verses.

9. Shulala- Harmonize ft. Korede Bello

It’s a love song dedicated to Shulala, where the singer promises her that he will never leave her. As the song begins, you might think that it is Aiyola. In fact, the song takes the pace and the slow rhythm of Aiyola. However, the lyrics are very different and the theme of the song is far from the normal weepy bongo love songs. Harmonize feature Korede Bello who does not disappoint. The two artists take you from your boredom and take you through a cruise on a journey of love.

The video marries the song well; it is very colourful and testifies of a treasured love. You can listen to this song anytime if you’re a bongo music lover, if you are not a bongo music lover, the song will invade your playlist, and you will not regret it.

This song features an African beat and celebrates love in a way that will make it a necessity to even toughest of players. The song talks about the beauty of commitment to a lover. The song is available on YouTube only as audio, but you will not need a video to dance to this rhythm.

12. Jamina- Emma Nyra featuring Harmonize

This song is by Emma Nyra featuring Harmonize. You need to know Emma Nyra is a Nigerian songwriter. The chemistry between the two in the song video tells what the song is all about; love.

The video is superb and features both artistes riding side by side. Harmonize’s verse begins by questioning that even if he did not love her, whom else would he love? The song is slow-paced characteristic of emotional love songs that appreciate the beauty of being in a relationship where both partners give their all to ensure the success of the song.

13. Pilipili- Willy Paul ft. Harmonize

This is an enlightening song, with words of wisdom. In the song, people are warned that cars and money is not everything. If you pursue riches, you will get lost. It is a lovely song and is very relevant in this age. Willy Paul features Harmonize.

Here the collabo was flawless as both the artistes are used to singing in the Swahili language. When listening to this song, you will observe how Harmonize’s voice is not far from Willy Paul’s— their mellow voices merge so effortlessly that without watching the video you will not tell who is singing. The video is lit by dancers who keep up with the rhythm. The song is uploaded on Harmonize’s YouTube channel and has more than 1 million views and still counting.

14. Love you- Marina ft. Harmonize

Just like the title of the song, the song is about love. The song was released in 2018 by Marina, from Rwanda featuring Harmonize. If you have been looking for a love song to dedicate to your love, then this song is a deal.

This song begins with Harmonize pouring his heart out, talking of how he wishes to love the lady. The song is so beautiful as it is done in multiple languages. It is also one of the few songs where Harmonize has attempted to sing in English. The video is simple, yet syncs well with the love quest in the song.

15. Pull up- Eddy Kenzo featuring Harmonize

The song is by Eddy Kenzo from Uganda featuring Harmonize. Like most Ugandan songs, the characteristic hyped dance in this song will keep you glued from its start to the end. The choreography is great and blends well with the vocals and the rhythm of the song.

The better part of the song is done in Luganda language. The video also merges traditional dances with contemporary moves and props. The dance moves are great, and the song has beautiful tunes. While you will not understand most of the song, you will grasp that the song is about a lover making promises and appreciating his partner. The song is proof that music is a universal language and hence no other language should bar artists from coming together to do something beautiful.

16. 911 – Krizbeatz ft. Yemi Alade and Harmonize

The song is done by Krizbeatz featuring Yemi Alade and Harmonize. It’s a very beautiful song about love.

If you love songs done by DJs like DJ Snake, then you will love this song. The beats are so danceable, and the singers brought their best in the song. Yemi Alade leads with the first verse and the chorus. The simple flow of Swahili in Harmonize’s verse sold the song while Yemi Alade’s chorus made it memorable and easy to sing along. The video, like most songs by Harmonize, features partying people and merry-making.

17. Indemonie – Harmonize and Dully Sykes

If you are a lover of bongo music, then you know that Dully Sykes and Harmonize are some of the best musicians bongo has ever produced. The song does not fall short of the expectation, the two bring out their best, and the song is the type you put on replay mode. It is a song that celebrates beauty but is also a little sexually explicit.

The video is of high quality and shows Dully Sykes ageless dance moves and charm around women. It is a party song, but the composition will blow your mind.

18. Sina- Harmonize

The song is produced by Lizer classics of WCB. The singer says that in his youth, money made him look down on his parents. But when he has no money, he doesn’t have even friends who praised him. Basically it’s a song with advice that money is not everything.

The song tells a similar story to the story of Mr. Nice, one of the bongo pioneers. What is disconcerting is that the song video features the said legend, Mr. Nice living in abject poverty after squandering his money partying with friends. The song is as such controversial as some people think that the song mocks Mr. Nice, while others believe that he was paid a handsome amount to be in the video. Politics of the video aside, the song teaches a valuable lesson about investing and tells a painful tale of fallen celebrities.

19. Nishachoka - Harmonize

The song was released in 2017 and has over 3million view on YouTube. The song talks about a lover who has got tired of disturbing tendencies of a partner. “Nishachoka” means “I have got tired.” When it comes to the point of a lover getting tired of a partner, nothing can be mended hence the relationship has to come to an end.

The song is emotional and will remind of the many times you went out of your routine to make a relationship work but still felt unappreciated. The video also tells the story of a partner who is out to exploit the other person; taking advantage of good deeds. It reminds me of Glen Washington’s song Kindness for weakness.

20. Niambie

This song talks about a pure love; love that is not pegged on material wealth. The singer asks why the lady loves him so much he doesn’t have enough money. He also talks about present sentiments about love— that true love does not exist. He keeps asking why the lady loves him so much in a time when true love is termed alien, and even those who get the fake love must have enough wealth to woe those they intend to stay with in a relationship. From the beginning of the song to the end, you will envy the love between these two partners. The video also tells of merry-making moments which contrasts the message of the song— love amidst poverty.

This song has over 7million views since its release in 2017. It remains to be a hit song even in 2018.
